Asset Management
When we were looking for a digital asset management system that suited our needs we couldn't find a single one! There are a lot of them out there, that’s for sure, but most seem to have been designed by geeks. OK, geeks who like a smart interface in some instances, but geeks nonetheless. Vastly over-complex, weird and containing bizarre features that 99% of us would never want and, not to put too fine a point on it, virtually unusable as a consequence – at least not without days of training.
So (yeah, you guessed it), we built our own. It’s simple, easy to use and most importantly does the job. Our clients who use ad.am have never had any training from us, and neither have their clients ... whose assets our clients manage on their behalf.
But the simple interface still provides the vast bulk of functionality you need to manage assets, with features such as:
- Conventional, user-friendly hierarchical expandable folder view of asset management structure.
- Additional custom-created multiple labels for any asset.
- Can hold any file type, with auto previews (and thumbnails) of image and PDF file types, with all others being able to be created and attached.
- Download assets (if you have permission) and select resolution and file type on the fly (for some file types, such as images).
- Preview moving image files on the site without downloading.
- Small number of standard (default) fields for structured data around assets, and any number of additional custom fields to suit your needs and those of your clients.
- Standard fields include usage rights info and expiry date (with alarm).
- A ‘lightbox’ feature to allow you to put together a collection of assets and share them with others.
- Check in and out function.
- Capability of adding asset-specific charges for downloads. Can be integrated into ad.min+ for even greater functionality.
OK, so you can’t search for chameau and find something that has a camel in it, and you can’t turn a powerpoint file into a video, and you can’t....
....and if that is what you want then ad.am is not for you.
